インターネットで今日「イッサーリス」のリサイタルがあることを知り、当日券を買って聞きにいってきました。有名なチェリストでは、ロストロポーヴィチとかマイスキーとか亡くなったドュプレとか、熱演タイプが多いのですが、イッサーリスはどちらかというと端整で内省的なタイプです。近くで見ると小柄で「詩人」のようです。


随分前からイッサーリスはＣＤで聞いてきました。最初に買ったフォーレ曲集のシチリアーノとエレジーはＣＤでも群を抜く名演なのですが、今日もこの二曲が前半に演奏されました。素晴らしい音でした。


楽器の良さもあるのでしょうが、楽器が嬉しそうに・心地よさそうに鳴っているのです。小柄なので手はそれほど長くないのでしょうが、驚くほど弓が長く見えました。中音域から高音域まで音色が統一しているのも凄いです。


今日のリサイタルのもう１つの目玉は、伴奏者の小川典子さんでした。イギリスを本拠にして活動しているピアニストです。日本人では珍しくしっかりした音を出すピアニストとして有名です。でも今日は随分気を使って弾いていたみたいです。昔テレビで聞いた「展覧会の絵」に出てきた太い重低音は聞かせませんでした。小川さんの本領はコンチェルトか何かで聴かなくはならないと思いました。でも後半のショスターコービッチでは凄い集中力を披露していました。


感激してコロンボのチェロの先生に送ったメールです。コロンボでイッサーリスのＣＤを貸してもらったことがありました。

It is very Long time no writing. Spring has come in Japan,so we can see beautiful cherry blossoms here and there.　Because of my new task in Tokyo Japan,it is rather difficult for me to have a time to practice Cello every day.


Actually, I went to Cello recital by """ Steven Isserlis"""tonight.
He came to Japan and had two recitals and one concert at which he played Dovrak concert.At today's recital, he played Cello Sonata composed by Debussy and Shostakovich.　Sichilienne and Elegie from Faure, and two pieces from Rachmaninov.　I had his CDs in my home, and copied one that you kindly showed me in Colombo.　His sound was very delicate and his playing was very sophisticated tonight just same as CD.　I remembered "Elegie" that you ordered to Amila to play after my lesson.　It was a wonderful time for me today after four months because I could not get your lessons and I could not join SOSL rehearsal.


Anyway my new task is related India market, so I will travel to India from now on. I am now thinking to manage to find out the chance to drop in Sri Lanka. I will attach a photo of tonight's recital for memory.
