| 久々にマイケル・シェイボン |

今日は図書館で借りた本の返却日だったので、ジュンパ・ラヒリの本もそうだが、「ドラゴンランス」の感想を大急ぎでまとめて、ぎりぎりになって返却した。というのもラヒリの本が、このあとも予約が入っていて、延長できないため。
 ところで、ゾエトロープからのメールに、「MCSWEENEY」という単語をみつけたので、おや？と思って調べていたところ、久々にマイケル・シェイボンの名前を目にした（メールの内容はシェイボンには全く関係ないのだが）。夏に 『Summerland』 を読んで以来だ。ちなみに、これのペーパーバックって、今年の2月に出版されたばかりなのに、もう絶版みたいなのはなぜ？（たしかに面白くなかったけど・・・）
去年、 『McSweeney's Mammoth Treasury of Thrilling Tales』 という短編集を購入したのだが、そのシリーズの続編か何か知らないが、 『McSweeney's Enchanted Chamber Of Astonishing Stories』 というのがまた出たらしい。Michael Chabon(著)とあるが、シェイボンだけではなく、いろいろな作家のアンソロジー。
今度のには、マーガレット・アトウッド、ジョナサン・レセム、スティーヴン・キング（キングは前回も掲載）、チャイナ・ミーヴィルなどが書いている。前回は冒険ものを集めたアンソロジーだったが、今回はびっくり仰天な話ですか？
ともあれ、いかにもアメリカ的なコミック風の表紙に惹かれているので、中身はどうでもいいのだ。読む、読まないに関わらず、たぶん買ってしまうだろう。
