情報のことを指す言葉。コンピュータでは、文字や数値、記号及び音声や静止画、動画などを扱う。データとは、それぞれの決まりに従って数値化するなどして、コンピュータにとって処理しやすい形に表現したもの。
人体のDNA情報とかになると、もっと複雑なのかしら？

these data are...が正しいが、米口語ではthis data isのように単数扱いに
することお多く、米国社会学学会では不可算語扱いにしてmuch(little)data
のように用いる。単数扱いとしては、one of the dataが普通で、datumはほとんど用いられない。
