お釈迦様の教え
なぜ辛く、苦しいのでしょう?
満たされない・・・
欲しいものが思うようにならない・・・
そんな思いをしたことはないですか?
生きている間、ずっと「満たされない渇き 」 に苦しむのが人間なのだ、とお釈迦様は説かれました。
この満たされない渇きは、自分の好きなものに執着し、嫌いなものに憎しみを抱く、人の性質によって強まります。
また、この世界の命あるものは、無常です。
美しいものも時とともに姿を変えます。自分の身体さえ若さを失って、老います。それに執着しようとすれば、苦しみが生まれます。
人間は、美しいものに心を奪われて、迷い、失うことを恐れ、そして思うようにならないものに悩み、不安になり、苦しみます。また、生きているうちに何かを追いかけなければという焦燥感や、老への迷いに取り憑かれると、さらなる苦しみが生まれます。
「移り変わっていくものに心を奪われる者は、惜しみ、
貪欲になり、憤り、愚かになる。
時には、正しいものの見方もできなくなる。
・・・全てのものは心によって起こり、心に支配される。
しかし私たちは心に支配されず、
心を支配する主とならなければいけない。
そしてあるがままに全てを観る智恵を持つべきである。」
失う苦しみから逃れる為に、弘法大師空海は次のように施 (ほどこし) の行を説かれています。
むさぼり、惜しむ心に勝てず、
人のために財を使うことがなければ
いつも餓える心に苦む。
少しの食物も分かちて、甘を割き与えるものは
この苦しみから脱れることができる。
