R.E.M. in the Georgia Music HOF
R.E.M. will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame this September. More to come later, but the press release is on the jump...

ATLANTA - April 3, 2006 - A talented and diverse group of Georgians highlight the 2006 inductees to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

The 28th Annual Awards Banquet, to be held Saturday, Sept. 16 in the Thomas B. Murphy Ballroom of the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, will recognize five artists who have made significant contributions to Georgia's music industry. The banquet is held each year by the Friends of Georgia Music Festival, Inc. and the Senate Music Industry Committee.

"This year's banquet promises to be one of the most exciting ever because of the amazing lineup of honorees," said Dr. Bobbie Bailey, chairman of the Friends of Georgia Music Festival, Inc. "This annual event allows us to shine the spotlight on our state's wonderful music industry, and the talented and creative people who have made Georgia a hub for music of all types."

Athens-based alternative rock group R.E.M. will be honored in the Group category. R.E.M. was formed in 1980 in Athens by Michael Stipe (vocals), Bill Berry (drums), Peter Buck (guitar) and Mike Mills (bass). By the early 1990s, the band was one of the world's most popular, respected and influential bands. The band's success cemented Athens' place on the national radar as a hub for alternative music.

The 2006 honoree in the Performer category is Gregg Allman. Gregg rose to prominence as the lead singer, organist and songwriter for the Allman Brothers Band, founded in 1969 in Macon. The classic Southern rock band had many chart-topping hits written by Allman, including "Whipping Post" and "Midnight Rider." He also emerged as a solo artist, releasing the critically acclaimed album "Laid Back," which launched a solo tour and subsequent live album that was also a success.

In the Non-Performer group, Columbus-born Dallas Austin is the 2006 inductee. Austin is an accomplished all-around talent whose resume includes both music and film production. He has worked with a wide variety of artists, from legendary acts such as Aretha Franklin, George Clinton, Michael Jackson and Madonna to today's stars such as Usher, Pink and Gwen Stefani. Austin has produced more than 50 hit singles, and in 2000 captured a GRAMMY® Award for producing the year's top R&B Album, "Fanmail," by TLC. In 2002, he produced his first major motion picture, "Drumline," shot almost exclusively in Georgia. His latest movie project, "The ATL," hit theaters on March 31.

Atlanta-based music mogul Jermaine Dupri will be honored in the 2006 Songwriter category. Dupri's accomplishments are almost too numerous to list, though his most impressive achievement may have been producing the best-selling albums of both 2004 and 2005. The 2004 blockbuster album "Confessions" by Usher sold more than nine million copies and earned the GRAMMY® for Best Contemporary R&B Album. Mariah Carey's comeback classic "The Emancipation of Mimi" sold more than five million copies, and earned four nominations and three awards at the 48th Annual GRAMMY® Awards. Dupri has produced, written and/or recorded 19 songs that reached No. 1 on the R&B charts. At just 19 years of age, Dupri founded music label So So Def based in Atlanta. In 2005, he took over the reigns of Virgin Records' Urban Music Division and brought So So Def with him to add to Virgin's roster. He has also opened an Atlanta restaurant, Café Dupri, and has teamed with Cartier to design a high-end line of eyewear that gives a portion of sales proceeds to the Atlanta Community Food Bank and City of Refuge.

Prolific songwriter Felice Bryant is the 2006 honoree in the Posthumous category. Though she was born in Milwaukee,Bryant settled in Moultrie with her songwriting teammate and husband Boudleaux Bryant, a 1982 Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductee. The Bryants wrote hits for some of country music's most famous legends, including Little Jimmy Dickens, Eddy Arnold and Jim Reeves. However, their success in the country music industry was overshadowed when the team partnered with the Everly Brothers and wrote legendary rock-and-roll hits such as "Bye Bye Love" and "Wake Up Little Susie." The partnership resulted in numerous classics, and a song originally written for the Everly Brothers called "Raining In My Heart" was eventually recorded by Buddy Holly during his final recording session in 1958. The Bryants' work lives on today, as their classic tune "Rocky Top" was adopted as the state song of Tennessee in 1982. Felice Bryant died at the age of 77 on April 22, 2003.

Tickets are available now for the 28th Annual Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards Banquet. Tickets to the show include an invitation to the Governor's Reception, an elegant dinner and an evening of great Georgia music and entertainment. Individual seats or tables of ten are available. 　ちなみに今夜は渋谷のセレクト・ショップで開かれている、クロヤナギ・ユキさんの写真展のパーチーに行ってきました。ユキさんの写真＠ラモーンズ、レッチリ、初来日んときのレディヘなどなどのロック写真が飾られています。4月16日までやってます。ナノ・ユニバースは０３−５４５６−８１７２です。ユキさんの写真をＴシャツにした、おしゃれなＴシャツも販売されてます。
　みんなみんな頑張ってるなぁ〜〜。
　

　今日は久々にツタヤ＠中野店に行ってＤＶＤを借りたのですが･･。おおっ！初めてまともな、親切な店員さんに出会いました。数年もツタヤに通いつづけて初めてですわ！もしや私だけでなく苦情が殺到して、中野店あげて親切促進計画でも始めたのか！やたらニコヤカで、探してるＤＶＤの場所まで連れてってくれて、みつけてくれ、言わなくても「レシートは必要でしょうか？」とか「ポイントたまってるのでお使いになりますか？」とか、もぉ〜、ここはどこどこ？な親切っぷりでした。今後この対応忘れるなよ！と、タカビーな感じで帰ってきましたわ。

　で。借りてきて見たのは、｢楽園をください」ｂｙアン・リー監督。そうそう「ブロークバック・マウンテン」で話題の台湾人監督です。前から見ようと思ってて見てなかったこの作品、見てよかった〜〜〜。すごくすごくいいです。ジョナサン・リース・マイヤーズも出てた！（←またバカ男な役…泣かせるぜ）しかしアン・リーは台湾人なのにこの映画の題材は「南北戦争」。それがこんなにも素晴らしく悲しく美しく描けちゃうなんて、ほんまに天才。私としては「ブローク…」よりもこっちの方が好き。すごく情緒のある作品です。
　で。で。で。そんなんいまさら見たのは、ジュエルちゃんがこの映画に出てるからなんです。ジュエルちゃん。久々に新譜が出るんですわ。それで急に電話インタビューすることになり。アセアセッと見た次第です。ジュエル。私にとっては愛憎渦巻く存在なんですが（笑）、何故ってもう〜〜、今までインタビューした相手で、最も態度悪かった女だし。コンサートで見せたいやらし〜〜〜〜媚態に吐き気がしたし！でもそうしたことも全てひっくるめて、まぁ、今となれば、おもろい女だな、と。そう思います。そういうこと含めて、いろいろ聞いてみたいなぁとか思い。インタビューも引き受けた次第ですわ。ま、電話なんで、英語バカな私は悲しくも質問作るだけで、後は通訳さまにお任せするだけなんですがね。ああ。それって本当はすごくむなしい…。（一応、こういう答えだったら、次はこう聞いてね。。。とかってお願いするんですが、それもね…）
　でも。でも。でも。ひとりスタバでジュエル聞きながら、あれこれ考えていて、ああ、私は本当に女性シンガーが好きだなぁ〜としみじみしました。女性シンガーに関わる仕事してるときは、心から充実します。昨晩から激しく欝だったのですが、ちょっと復帰しました。
　あ！！それから「シャディ」のＣＭの朝青龍に驚き！！キャアアアアアッ！

　世の中は早いね〜。1日のエイプリルフール再結成、もう映像が落ちてるって友達が教えてくれました。ハゲちんじゃなく、もっとビルを映してくれ〜〜〜！だが。

　今夜は話題のアークティック・モンキーズのライブを見に、遠く遠く新木場のスタジオコーストまで行きました。大して期待はしてなかったのですが（笑）ヨカッタ。ものすごおおく感動したっ！ってのではなく、ああこれが若いバンドだ！これがＵＫのバンドのクールさだっ！ってすごく久々に思い出し、ゾクゾクした。ああ。若いってすごい。若いって暴力だ、そう感じました。彼ら自身だけじゃなく、そこに集まっていた2千人くらいの観客たちからもそれがモワモワと匂い立ち、圧倒されておりました、オババは。でもこんなオババでも、今夜は自分が20歳くらいのときに確かに感じていたあの感じ、あの匂い、あの思いを、久々に自分の中に手にすることができた…ように思えました。そしてそれからすると、はるかなんて遠くまで私はやってきたのだろう…と、帰り道はちょっと寂しくなりました。今あなたがもし10代や20代の前半なら、そのときを大切に大切に愛しんでください。そのときは本当に大切で、そしてそのときに感じてる思いの１つ１つはたとえネガティヴなものでもすべて宝物です！本当です！

　それにしても昨日から私はモノモライおばば。昨日は師匠からフィンランド土産のムーミン・グッズをもらい、師匠の事務所の人からインド土産をもらい、お豆のお菓子をもらい、バッグをもらい、靴下もらい、口紅もらい、今日は朝から、お豆腐屋で「揚げ立てだから１つあげるっ」て言って、オバちゃんが揚げ立ての油揚げくれた！　これがうまかった！　そのまま食べな！といわれたのでそうしたら、本当においしいんだよ〜。びっくり。そして夕方、コンサートに行くのに赤尾先生が車で連れてってくれて、前に赤尾さんのお仕事手伝ったんだけど、そのお金をくれた。う〜〜む。モノモライおばば。みんながオレに、なんかくれる。ひ〜。ありがて〜〜。

R.E.M. played as a four piece last night in Athens, GA at the end of the Minus 5's set there. Reports from the scene indicate that local buzz was stating that R.E.M. would play, and over the course of the evening, the original four piece slowly reunited offstage as a predicate to their reuniting onstage.

They played a slow version of Country Feedback before the night ended, with Bill Berry on bass. April 5, 2006 marks the band's 26th anniversary, and this seems like a nice run-up to that occasion.

9月再結成ライブはこれで濃厚だな〜〜＠アトランタ。グゲッ！

疲れ果ててる今日は、コレを読んでもらうくらいしか…。

　ぐぉおおおお。イライライライライラ…。今日はイライラ虫の1日でした。
　一番のイライラ原因は桜が満開で、中野通りが狂ったような人出だったことに始まり。←コンビニに行くにも人並みの向こう、チャリに乗れば、けたおされそうになり。
　さらにスーパーで牛乳買ったら、185円だと思ったのが、プライスカードが違うのがかかってたから235円だった（←この50円に今日1日がめちゃめちゃにされた。とにかく腹立った。このセコセコ貧乏根性がいかん？　しかしとにかく腹立ったのだ。売り切れた牛乳のカードなんてトットと片付けろ。バカスーパー！もぉ〜、50円に激怒しまくるオレ様！←そんな自分にも腹立つ←でもやはりバカスーパーがいけないと、さらにまた腹立つ←イライラ爆発）
　さらにはお気に入りのお弁当屋さんにお昼を買いに行ったら、今日は臨時休業だった。
　
　そんなイライラの今日は、でも、朝からラモーンズのＤＶＤを見てました。そうそう、前に公開されて話題になった｢エンド・オブ・センチュリー」です。いまさら見たのです。で、これは本当に素晴らしかった。あまりに素晴らしくて2回も続けて見ちゃったほどで。感動。超感動。
　元々ラモーンズは全然知らないバンドだったのですが（だから最初、出てくる人が「これはラモーンズなのか？」とか思ったくらい知りません）でも、最後には号泣しちゃったんです。なんかもぉ。バンドってものの素晴らしさを再確認。
　バンドってさぁ。他にはないアートフォームなんだよね、かっこつけて言うと。絵画にも文学にも、どこにもない。このポピュラーミュージック→ロックにしかないフォームであり、そこにはあらゆるタイプの人がいて、社会が、そして人生が凝縮濃厚ギュッギュッとされたものであり、とにかく憎悪も愛も金もあらゆることが混沌と渦巻き、しかしそんな場でアートが生み出されていく。
　いやもう。すごいよなぁ〜とバンドというものの素晴らしさを感じ、もし私がこの映画を10代で見ていたら、今すぐバンド組もう！！と大騒ぎするだろうなぁ〜と思いました（ヨカッタ、オババになってから見て。人生さらにおかしくするところだったわ…）。
　とにかく音楽が好きなら、この映画、ぜった〜〜〜〜いに見るべしです。なんて。私も今まで見なかったのでエラソーなこと言えませんが。しかも借りてきた（←もったいなくも、ラモーンズＦＣ会長＠ユキさん私物を借りた）から、けっこう経ってから見たのでした。
　でもでもオススメ。

　あ。そうそう。昨日はサン・ヴォルト（元アンクル・チュペロ、ウィルコとのれんわけしたバンド）のライブも行きましたが、ガラガラだったので（涙）一番前で見ました。ギターの人の目の前で、ギターってこうやって弾くのかぁ、としみじみしました。
　

　宣伝：今夜午前2時から放送の、ＦＭ横浜の｢ロッキン・グルーヴ」が最終回なんですが、最後の最後にまた和田、チロンとお邪魔してＲＥＭも1曲かけてもらう予定。よかったら聞いてね〜ん。セッチャン＠ＤＪ＆お友達、最後の放送なんだよぉ〜〜。

ＰＳマイナス５は4月1日にアセンズで公演なんですね〜。げ、ゲストとかあるんですかね？

　さて今日は3月31日、そのように↑色々なことが終わり、そしてまた明日から新しいことが始まっていく節目のときですが、和田も「はじめなきゃっ」とあせり、アワアワとまた英語リ・スタート宣言！　おおっ！　まぁ、しかし、リ・スタート宣言などと言いながら、やってることはただ「再びＮＨＫラジオのテキスト＠350円を買ってきた」だけなんすが。とりあえずぅ。
　しかしオレと同じように、この真新しいテキストをを手に、「今度こそ！」とか「やるぞ！」とか震え、異国の人とぺらぺら話す己を想像してウットリしてる人が多いだろう、さぞや。しかし大抵は2週間もしないうちに「明日こそ！」と聞かなくなり、「週末にまとめて！」とか言いつつ週末はグダグダし、5月のテキストは買っても結局1度も開かず、6月頃には「なんだっけ？」とか言ってビール飲んでワハハハわすれちった〜〜なかんじになるわけですよな。
　う〜む。そうなりそうな予感、自ら多大ですが、しかし前のときはとりあえず1年半くらいは続いたわけで！　和田、けっこうしつこいわけで！　今回もがんばりますっ！　しかしなんかモチベーションないしな〜〜。モンゴル語にした方が今はモチベーションあがるんだけどな〜（笑）。でもとりあえずやってみる〜。そして再びここで「ドンと来い！英会話」として（←前に何回か書きました）報告するだす〜。
　あ。同じようにテキスト買われた方、一つだけ続けるコツがあるとしたら、「聞かなかった日の放送は忘れよ」です。まとめてやろう！などと思うからイヤになるのであり、それはもういいのです。聞ける日だけ聞いて、学ぶ。ラジオ勉強長続きのコツはこれです。それから家族にバカにされようと、「でかい声で、感情込めてリピート！」これっすね。恥かしがらず、アホアホになりきり、感情こめ〜〜てリピートです。そうするとね〜、不思議なことに実際の場面で出てくる、けっこう自然に。ホントだよ〜〜ホントだよ〜〜〜。
　↑とりあえず1年半やった経験談ですわ。　
　さて。放送は4月3日から。和田が聞こうとしてるのは前と同じ、イワムラ・ケイナン先生の「徹底トレーニング　英会話」です。以前の「レッツ・スピーク」がタイトル変わったものです。｢徹底」ですからね、「徹底」。うっお〜〜〜！
