It’s always a treat to see an alligator!

Are there any similar proverb or sentences?

That just means that it is always a special surprise when we see something that we don’t expect or don’t often get a chance to see. It is not what I would think of when seeing an alligator. As the sentence is very positive. Seeing an alligator is not my idea of a pleasant experience.
