• How they qualified
For the first time since the UEFA European Under-17 Championship adopted a two-round qualifying system, Spain were not excused the opening stage due to the abolition of byes for the top seeds.
• Team profile
Spain finally took the Under-17 title in 2007 but they have been the dominant nation in European youth competition.
